During Covid there was a significant increase in new campers. Tired of lockdowns, many of these campers were looking for new, memorable experiences. Campsight is a concept that responds to the trend in the desire for unique camping accommodations. Like an Airbnb for camping, Campsight would offer campsites on private land, providing an experience like no other. As nature is always in flux, the goal of the visual branding was to follow the flow of nature. Through a large set of graphic elements and thermochromic and photochromic pigments, the graphics are always in movement.
Boulders break down over time as they slowly weather into the tiniest of pebbles, each one a slightly different size and shape, hinting at their past. This process inspires a set of 50 different logos, to be used interchangeably.
Sunsets are quite complex phenomena. The saturation of the colors is driven by the amount of moisture and particulates in the air. Texture is found everywhere in nature. As part of the suite of graphic assets, I created 50 textures. Each texture is assigned to two colors of the color pallette, equating to 3600 unique combinations. These combinations can then be used throughout the brand to provide a rich library of assets.
The print pieces use photochromic inks so that the environment affects their visual expression. Under light, the patterns are revealed.
Campsight Accomodations take advantage of thermochromic pigments, or pigments that change color with a change in temperature, to create an experience that even changes with the seasons.
Extending the idea of constant change to the web, the desktop site, mobile site, and app have different color modes depending on when they're visited.
Humanity often needs a reminder to slow down and appreciate the things we take for granted: the soothing sounds of a bubbling brook, the sweet smell of spring, the refreshing caress of a cool breeze. The goal of Campsight is to amplify these experiences and make them visual, as if to say, "Appreciate this moment. It's never coming back, but therein lies the beauty. "
